OYA Council Meeting - Sept 9

The OYA Council met on Sept. 9 and had a very productive meeting. We had some announcments (see Upcoming Events) and updates. We discussed a draft of the mission statement and chose a logo. (Thanks go to Nephon, Melanie, John R. and Carrie.) Next we discussed breifly the different responsibilities of the Council. Our biggest discussion was sorting out the many ideas we came up with at the last meeting. Many committees are forming and things will be happening so be on the lookout for posts about them. Our next meeting will be October 7 at 6:00 pm at Carrie and Melanie's home. This is a really exciting time and it's not too late to get involved! For questions, e-mail me at orthodoxyoungadultsofin@hotmail.com.

Missionary Presentation

Thursday, September 22 I will be going to Schererville, Indiana to hear Georgia Gilman speak about her mission work in Albania. She's 25 and has been in Albania for one year and is raising money for her second year there. I was blessed to meet Georgia while I was in Albania and she's a great girl! The dinner is free, but obvioulsy the point is to raise money. Half of the money will go to OCMC and the other half to Georgia's mission. Like I said, I am going, and I have 4 seats in my car for anyone who would like to go (and I'd appreciate company). It is a 2 1/2 hour drive, but to me it's worth it. Also, we would be coming back that night and it could be late. If you are interested and want more details call me at (812) 240-8654.

Prayer Requests

Elizabeth has some friends in need of prayers. One friend, Sebastian, will be going to Bosnia soon with the German military. Also, her friend Emily is having a very difficult pregnancy. She's recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The baby's intestines are outside of the body and doctors are unresolved as to what the next step should be. The husband's name is Vince and they also have a two year old named Aidan (a boy). Because of the problems, they found the sex of the baby and namesd him Samuel. Please keep them all in your prayers.

Another OYA Council Meeting

There will be another OYA Council meeting on Friday, Sept. 9. The starting time is between 6 and 6:30, so show up when you can. We will be having a pitch-in dinner during that time (and throughout the meeting) so please bring a lenten side dish and/or drink. The place is yet to be determined. I will not have access to a computer before the meeting, so if you want to come, call me. My number is 812.240.8654 and I should know where the meeting will be by Tuesday evening. The agenda will mainly be going over ideas we came up with at our last meeting and developing them. Please come and give your input!
